Deliver a first-of-its-kind platform to solve meaningful human problems
Our goal was to deliver a HIPAA-compliant web application that would be used in the US’s toughest prisons, addiction centers, and educational systems. During the initial stage, our main task was to efficiently take over the project from our predecessor and ensure full support from the product side.
We had to adapt the platform to the HIPAA requirements (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996), which became federal law. HIPAA sets national standards to protect patient’s sensitive medical data.
How we helped LifeTraq unlock the potential?
We created an advanced application that allows users to follow a personalized motivational path, collect points for successful actions, participate in training sessions, and earn rewards.
Trainers can now create development paths themselves and edit them at any time. The app is HIPAA compliant – we implemented a number of security features to get compliance, for example, data encryption in the database, two-step verification, as well as many internal security features.
One of the project’s important elements was creating an intuitive design and implementing a gamification module to increase user engagement. The product was supposed to run directly on prisoners’ individual tablets.
To do so, we had to implement a number of security features to prevent outsiders from gaining unauthorized access.
The tools and technologies we used provided a stable and safe environment for the system while allowing for effective integrations with an external system. We also implemented effective integrations with various tools and used them in non-standard ways to create a tailor-made solution. One of the key integrations was with JotForm, an application that allows users to create surveys and tests and award points.
Another functionality was an extensive system for collecting and segregating statistics, enabling participants and trainers to track their results.

The ability to create user roles with limited permissions, including roles like provider, provider admin, expert, as well as additional roles based on the ones mentioned earlier.
Access Management system for specific users
Selected users can receive dedicated access to specific modules and surveys within the application.
